El estadounidense Billy Horschel gana el BMW Championship

El estadounidense Billy Horschel, con 266 golpes, 14 bajo el par, se ha proclamado campeón del BMW Championship de golf, disputado en Cherry Hills Village, en Colorado (EE.UU.), tras una última ronda dominada por los norteamericanos, que coparon las tres primeras plazas.

Horschel, que presentó hoy una tarjeta con 69 golpes, aventajó en dos golpes al segundo clasificado, el estadounidense Bubba Watson que concluyó las cuatro jornadas con 268 golpes, seguido con uno más por su compatriota Morgan Hoffmann, que en esta última jornada avanzó siete puestos tras firmar una tarjeta con 63 impactos y en la que anotó un eagle, en el hoyo 17, ocho birdies, un bogey y un doble bogey, éste en el agujero 5.

Entre tanto dominio de golfistas estadounidenses, el español Sergio García acabo cuarto clasificado con 271 golpes, 67 en la jornada de hoy, en la que en el penúltimo hoyo, el 17, sumó un triple bogey que le impidió una mejor clasificación.

Los estadounidense Jim Furyk, Rickie Fowler y Ryan Palmer acompañan al castellonense en esa cuarta posición.

Los 65 golpes con los que hoy concluyó el recorrido el argentino Ángel Cabrera le han permitido escalar 11 posiciones y quedar décimo segundo con 274 impactos, mientras que el colombiano Camilo Villegas es vigésimo con un total de 276.

El BMW Championship ha repartido 8 millones de dólares en premios, de ellos 1.440.000 para el ganador, y 2.500 puntos de la FedExCup.

¡Increible! El número uno del mundo necesitó de 4 putts desde poco más de un metro

En el hoyo 4 embocó un putt desde 20 metros. Fue el más largo embocado por cualquier jugador el sábado en el hoyo 4, par 4 del Cherry Hills Country Club. Ocho hoyos después, el número uno del planeta necesitó de cuatros putts para embocar una bola que se encontraba a poco más de un metro lo que le alejaba de la victoria en el BMW Championship.

Así explicaba McIlroy lo sucedido: “En los dos primeros putts no perdí la concentración. Me tomé el tiempo que necesitaba pero no interpreté bien el primero de ellos. El segundo fue simplemente un mal putt y en el tercero perdí la concentración”.
